TRG Communities is dedicated to bringing a neighborhood lifestyle to O’Neal Village where residents can live, work, play, and pray together. This summer we are thrilled to have Haven Ridge Church join the O'Neal Village community and look forward to the vibrancy they will add to this flourishing community.
Although Haven Ridge Church just moved to O’Neal Village they have been rooted in the Greer community. A small group of folks began meeting over a year and a half ago in Pastor Allan Burchfield’s home in Greer. Several months ago they decided to form a church and they quickly outgrew the homes they were meeting in.
Burchfield first got connected to O’Neal Village through Julie Styles, a local realtor who shared with him the desire to have a church community come to O’Neal Village. Styles connected Burchfield with local developer, Jeff Randolph. Not long after, space became available in Village Square of O’Neal Village and the dream of having a place to gather together quickly became reality. Haven Ridge Church launched their first service in O’Neal Village just several weeks ago on July 26th, 2015.
Pastor Allan Burchfield moved to the Upstate from Clarksdale, Mississippi in 2012 after feeling called to plant a church in the area. The seed of the idea came from Burchfield’s mentor at North Greenville University who asked him to prayerfully consider planting a church in the Upstate. Burchfield recognized that Greer was a fast growing area and it was in need of a church. Burchfield moved here with his wife, Sarah and his three kids, Wesley, Marley and Calvin. Burchfield is no stranger to the Upstate region either, he grew up coming to the area with his father hiking and enjoying the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The name of the local congregation is two-fold, “ridge” from the surrounding views of the local mountain range. “Haven” from his church being a refuge to love and encourage one another, while ultimately and infinitely finding refuge in God. The church has dived head first into the O’Neal Village community by hosting a community block party this summer and helping alongside O’Neal’s community garden. Burchfield considers his church part of O’Neal Village and ultimately wants to see it thrive.
There are many ways to get involved at Haven Ridge, including Sunday gatherings at 10am where they also have “Kid’s Village”, a children’s ministry geared specifically for the little ones. Haven Ridge also has “DNA Groups,” weekly discipleship intensive groups that meet with three or four others. In addition, they also have “Missional Communities” where members can love, serve, and build relationships in a specific community.
