Foxbank Plantation, a new residential development in Moncks Corner, has donated and delivered 6,400 tons of topsoil to the town. The donation is equivalent to nearly 300 dump truck loads of dirt. The mounds of dirt have been used to build the new ball fields at the town’s newest recreation complex on East Main Street adjacent to downtown.
Town administrator Mark Hehn estimates the value of the donated material and delivery to be around $90,000.
Hehn says the new Regional Recreation Complex will open initially with four baseball fields, a football field and a soccer field. Eventually, the 50-acre site will also include a Miracle Needs Field for special-needs children, a tennis complex, basketball courts, walking trails and a community center.
Foxbank Plantation is also donating land for a future Moncks Corner fire station.
